Mykolaiv region: SBI exposes head of local "Ukrtransbezpeka" on bribe
The head of Ukrtransbezpeka in Mykolaiv region was caught taking systematic bribes from carriers. This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation.
During 2023 and until the beginning of 2024, the acting head of Ukrtransbezopasnost in the Mykolaiv region established a system of collections from entrepreneurs. He set a monthly fee from 500 UAH to 5 thousand UAH per carrier for the opportunity to work quietly when transporting goods across the region. The amount depended on the number of trucks the merchants owned.
According to operational data, for such “control” over transport safety, the official received at least 50 thousand hryvnia of illegal profit per day.
Law enforcement officers detained an Ukrtransbezopasnosti official while receiving another bribe.
So far, the defendant has been informed of suspicion of 5 facts of extortion and receipt of unlawful benefits by an official .
