The SBI, together with the SSU, exposed a large-scale scheme for the theft of military uniforms in one of the TD brigades in Kyiv.

The uniform was stolen by military personnel of the brigade under the direction of a civilian, the SBI press service reported on Wednesday, February 28.

The criminal scheme was organized by one of the civilians who influenced the military personnel of the territorial defense brigade in Kyiv. The military ensured that military equipment was written off and gave it to a man who resold the uniform at reduced prices.

“With the help of them [the servicemen], he stole bulletproof vests, helmets, winter/summer sets of clothing, shoes, etc. from the unit. The stolen goods were transported from the military unit to an improvised warehouse in one of the garages of the capital. The attackers stole items worth at least UAH 3.6 million,” the SBI press service reported.

Law enforcement officers detained the organizer and two other people while selling military uniforms worth more than UAH 2 million. The man tried to sell military property at prices half the market value.

During searches at the warehouse of the criminals, SSU and State Bureau of Investigation officers discovered large stocks of military uniforms, from which the “Not for sale” tags were cut off. The organizers planned to sell military equipment via the Internet.
