President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree to discharge conscripts whose military service during martial law has expired.
The corresponding decree was published on the OP website on March 7.
“... To discharge in April-May 2024 from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, and other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, military personnel of conscript military service, whose period of military service... ended during martial law,” it says in the decree.
Let us remind you that on February 23, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted to adopt a bill on the demobilization of conscripts. The bill was supported by 319 deputies.
The bill stipulates that during general mobilization and the legal regime of martial law, conscripts whose military service expired during martial law and whose service was extended beyond the established deadlines are transferred to the reserve within the time limits determined by the decree of the President of Ukraine.
At the same time, it is assumed that such persons cannot be called up for military service during mobilization within 12 months from the date of transfer to the reserve, unless they have expressed a desire to continue serving.
