Occupants launched 22 "shahids" at Ukraine: air defence forces shoot down 17 drones

The air defence forces repelled another attack by enemy Shahed-type kamikaze drones, destroying 17 out of 22 targets in the Ukrainian sky. The Russian attack continued from Sunday evening until Monday night, March 17-18.

This was reported by the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The occupiers also launched rocket attacks, causing destruction and casualties.

On Monday night, the enemy attacked the Kharkiv region with five S-300/S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles, and two Kh-59 guided missiles - the Sumy region. And 22 “martyrs” were launched from Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Russian Federation.

Anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force and Ground Forces, mobile fire groups of the Defence Forces, and electronic warfare equipment were involved in repelling the air attack.

As a result of combat work, the defenders shot down 17 drones within the Kyiv, Poltava, Khmelnitsk, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Dnipro, Vynnytsia, Zaporizhzhya, and Rivne regions.

According to RMA, the enemy attacked the Poltava region with strike drones. The sounds of explosions were heard in the Kremenchuh region, as well as from neighboring regions. There were no casualties or destruction of infrastructure in the region.

Late on Sunday evening, sky defenders shot down two suicide bombers in the Kryvyi Rih region of the Dnipropetrovsk region. Head of the RMA Serhiy Lysak reported that in Kryvyi Rih debris fell on a five-story building: a fire broke out, which was extinguished by rescuers. The roof was damaged, but the apartments themselves were intact and no one was injured.

“Explosive experts seized part of the enemy’s scrap metal. To carry out the work safely, almost three dozen residents were brought out. Now the debris will be destroyed. People are already at home,” the official said.
