The Russian Armed Forces are attacking in several directions: ISW maps

Russian forces advanced south of Kreminna, west of Berdychiv (southwest of Avdiivka), south of Bilohorivka (south of Kreminna), south of Semenivka (northwest of Avdiivka) and west of Tonenke (west of Kreminna).

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine , citing a report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

East of Ukraine. Operation No. 1 – Luhansk region

Russian troops have recently advanced south of Kreminna amid ongoing positional fighting along the Kupyansk-Svatovo-Kreminna line since early April. According to geolocation imagery released on 2 April, Russian forces recently advanced south of Bilohorivka (south of Kreminna). Positional fighting continued northeast of Kupyansk in the vicinity of Synkivka and west of Kreminna in the vicinity of Terny.

Operation No. 2 – Donetsk region

Near Bakhmut, positional combat continued on April 2, but there were no confirmed changes on the front line in this area. Ukrainian and Russian sources stated that positional battles continued:

• north-west of Bakhmut in the area of Bohdanivka;
• west of Bakhmut near Ivanivske and Chasiv Yar;
• south-west of Bakhmut near Klishchiyivka;
• south of Bakhmut near New York and Pivdenne.

Russian forces recently advanced near Avdiivka amid ongoing positional fighting. Geo-location footage released on 31 March shows Russian forces advancing west of Berdychi (northwest of Avdiivka) and in southern Semenivka (northwest of Avdiivka).

Russian forces also advanced west of Tonenke (west of Avdiivka). Ukrainian and Russian sources said that positional fighting continued:

• north-west of Avdiivka in the area of Berdychi and Semenivka;
• west of Avdiivka near Umanske and Tonenke;
• south-west of Avdiivka near Pervomaiske and Nevelske.

A Ukrainian officer stated that Russian troops in the Avdiivka sector sometimes launch tactical attacks in two directions simultaneously, for example, when Russian troops launched a mechanised assault near Pervomaiske, a group of about 30 Russian infantrymen attacked in Nevelske.

A Ukrainian officer in a brigade operating in Avdiivka commented on the large-scale Russian attack on 30 March near Tonenke and said that Ukrainian artillery was the first to hit Russian heavy equipment. Positional fighting continued to the west and southwest of Donetsk, but there were no confirmed changes to the frontline in the area.

Ukrainian and Russian sources claimed that positional fighting continued:

• West of Donetsk in the area of Krasnohorivka and Heorhiivka;
• south-west of Donetsk in the area of Novomykhailivka.

Units of the Russian 255th motorised rifle regiment, which operates as part of the 20th motorised rifle division of the 8th Combined Arms District, were reportedly active near the village of Peremohy.

Also on 2 April, positional hostilities continued on the border between Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, but no confirmed changes in the front line were recorded in this area.

Ukrainian and Russian sources claim that positional fighting continued:

• near Mykilske (south-east of Vuhledar);
• Velyka Novosilka;
• Staromayorske (south of Velyka Novosilka);
• Urozhayne (south of Velyka Novosilka).

"Southern Axis"

On Tuesday, April 2, positional fighting continued in the west of the Zaporozhye region, but there were no confirmed changes to the front line. Ukrainian and Russian sources reported the continuation of positional battles:

• near Rabotino;

• northwest of Verbovoy (east of Rabotino) and Malaya Tokmachka (northeast of Rvbotino).

It is reported that units of the 247th Guards Air Assault (Airborne) Regiment (7th Airborne Division) are operating near Verbov.

"Southern Axis".

On Tuesday, 2 April, positional fighting continued in the west of Zaporizhzhya region, but there were no confirmed changes in the front line. Ukrainian and Russian sources reported the continuation of positional fighting:

• near Robotyne;
• north-west of Verbove (east of Robotyne) and Mala Tokmachka (north-east of Robotyne).

Units of the 247th Guards Air Assault Regiment (7th Air Assault Division) are reportedly operating near Verbove.

In addition, on April 2, positional combat operations continued on the eastern (left) bank of the Kherson region, but there were no confirmed changes in the front line in this area.

Natalya Humenyuk, a spokeswoman for the Ukrainian Southern Operations Command, said Russian troops could not use armored vehicles to storm Krynky due to the loss of large vehicles, and that Russian troops were conducting two to three attacks on Ukrainian positions a day, using drones and artillery. Humenyuk also noted that Russian troops are rotating units from eastern Ukraine to southern Ukraine to compensate for personnel losses from shelling on the eastern shore of the Kherson region.

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported that on the night of 2 April, it blew up a power substation in occupied Sevastopol in Crimea. The Ukrainian media outlet Hromadske.Krym reported that the attack caused temporary localised power outages in part of Sevastopol.

The DIU sources did not specify how the DIU officers damaged the substation. The governor of Sevastopol, Mykhailo Razvozhayev, denied the information about the incident at the substation, saying that the power outages were the result of an accidental short circuit.
