On May 16, a meeting of the NATO Military Committee at the level of the chiefs of general staff of the Alliance member countries and Ukraine will be held in the Belgian capital Brussels.

This is stated in a NATO press release .

The head of the Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, will chair this meeting, which will be attended by the Chiefs of General Staff of the Alliance member countries and their counterparts from Ukraine.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will join the Military Committee at the opening sessions to discuss the Alliance’s key priorities and challenges.

At the first session, the chiefs of general staff will meet in the format of the Ukraine-NATO Council to discuss Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, the situation on the battlefield and further support for Ukraine from NATO and its allies.

During the second session, General Christopher Cavoli, Chairman of U.S. European Command and Supreme Allied Commander Europe, will brief the Chiefs of Staff on progress made in implementing the plans adopted at the Vilnius Summit in July 2023 (during preparations for the Washington Summit).

There will also be broader discussions on capabilities, integrated air and missile defense, defense industrial capacity and community resilience.

The third session will be chaired by General Philippe Lavigne, NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander for Transformation. It will focus on implementing the Multi-Domain Operations Concept and the Warfighting Development Agenda (WDA), which sets out NATO’s military transformation plan for the next 20 years.
