People with drug and alcohol addictions can now be mobilized in Ukraine

Executive Director of the Ukrainian Helsinki Union Oleksandr Pavlychenko said that according to the new law, which came into force today, people with alcohol and drug addiction will be subject to mobilization.

“Persons with different types of addictions, for example, alcohol, drug or some other addiction are recognized as suitable or temporarily suitable for non-combat formations. This is the rear service, providing logistical assistance, even medical assistance,” Pavlychenko said.

According to him, this norm “can be criticized.”
