Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil reached the final of Eurovision 2024
Representatives of Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil, have won our country a place in the grand final, which will take place on Saturday, May 11. The singers performed in the first semi-final at number 5.
According to the rules of the competition, participants qualify for the finals only based on the results of audience voting.
A total of 26 countries will compete for the crystal microphone on Saturday, May 11, 16 of which are already known. The performance of the Ukrainian representatives was directed by Tanya Muinho, one of the most famous directors in the world.
How Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil performed
The spectators in the hall and at the screens were amazed not only by the song and the strong vocals of the Ukrainian women, but also by the powerful production. The Ukrainian duo’s performance began with Jerry Heil’s spectacular exit from the loose rocks. Then alyona alyona joined her. The first one appeared before the audience as a huge hologram. And in the finale of the performance, the singers lay on the stage as if surrounded by other women.
For the performance of the Ukrainian women, a rock was used, and their images contained elements of armor: chain mail, a sword and the colors of the images. “What symbolism did you find for yourself in the fact that we have such princely jewelry, the chain mail of those times, look how Yana’s sleeve is stuck, such a metal shoulder. The armor [ed. – armor]. Did everyone see the sword [in her hair]?” – alyona alyona said earlier in the backstage of the rehearsal.
They previously explained in an interview with Billboard that the song and performance primarily depict war and fighting the enemy. This is probably why in the footage of the second rehearsal you can see phosphorus bombs on the screens supposedly falling on the Ukrainians, who, in turn, were portrayed by Jerry Heil, climbing a mountain.
