The conditions under which all Ukrainians will be cut off power are named

In Ukraine, on May 8, a power outage was announced throughout the country. So far, the schedules have been introduced only for industry, but the lights in Ukrainians’ apartments and houses can also be turned off. This is an extreme measure, as power engineers assure, and therefore they will resort to it only if the current shortage increases - that is, if consumers do not save effectively enough.

Mariya Tsaturyan, Communications Director of NEC Ukrenergo, spoke about this. “We have already publicly announced that restrictions on energy supply are possible, primarily for business and industrial consumers, but if this is not enough, then the Ukrenergo dispatch center will be forced to resort to an extreme measure of balancing the system, namely, limiting household consumers, that is, the population , households,” she noted.

According to her, outages for household consumers can be avoided if electricity is consumed economically in the evening hours, namely from 18:00 to 23:00. In particular:

• do not turn on all powerful electrical appliances at the same time;
• postpone washing overnight;
• turn off lights in empty rooms.

In general, according to Tsaturyan, Ukraine’s energy system is still coping with the consequences of Russia’s unprecedented attacks on the infrastructure. “The energy system is operating stably, having survived the fifth massive Russian missile and drone attack since March 22. The priority targets of this attack, like the previous ones, were Ukrainian power plants and Ukrenergo high-voltage network facilities,” a company representative noted.
