NABU conducted searches of former management of Ukrvuhillya

Law enforcement officers conducted a series of searches in the case of Ukrvuhillya, a state-owned company that sold coal to private companies, which sold it to thermal power plants at a higher price.

As part of the searches, the former director of the company, Mykhailo Voloshyn, and the former director of coal sales, Denys Radionov, were found to have, among other things, price offers for the supply and sale of coal.

This was reported by journalist Oleh Novikov. He noted:

"correspondence on the state of debt of state-owned coal enterprises was also found in the possession of these individuals."
the searches were conducted by representatives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP).
"Together with them, the former head of Ukrvuhillya’s coal sales department, Oleksandr Pavlov, was searched. During the investigation, they found an iPad tablet and a mobile phone with correspondence about Ukrvuhillya, Vuhillyazbut, DK Zakhid Energo, Coal Impex and other circumstances of the case," the statement said.

It is also noted that the phones, laptops and tablets of the defendants have been arrested. They are recognised as material evidence.

Earlier, the journalist noted, National Police investigators searched the home of former Deputy Energy Minister and now Advisor to the Minister Maksym Nemchynov in this case. They seized from him:

• $62,420;
• 26,150 euros;
• 138,600 UAH;
• an iPhone mobile phone
• iPad tablet
• MacBook laptop;
• documents.

What the case is about

As Novikov explained, the NABU and the SAPO are investigating alleged misuse and misappropriation of funds of state-owned enterprises Ukrvuhillya and Dobropillyavuhillya-Vydobuvannya by employees of these enterprises in 2022-2023. Also:

• Ministry of Energy;
• "Centrenergo.

"In particular, it was about Ukrvuhillya selling coal to private companies. The latter, in turn, sold it to thermal power plants at a higher price," he said.
