Ukrainian defenders shot down all the shaheds that the occupiers launched that night
This night, the Russian occupiers used more than 20 Shahed-type attack drones for another attack on Ukraine. All enemy kamikaze drones were destroyed by the forces and means of air defence of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
This was reported by the commander of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk .
It is specified that on the night of May 22, 2024, the enemy attacked the territory of Ukraine with 24 attack UAVs of the Shahed-131/136 type, which were launched from the areas of Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Kursk (Russian Federation), as well as from the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea.
Air defence operation details
Combat work to repel an air attack took place in six regions. Thus, enemy UAVs were destroyed within:
- Mykolaiv
- Dnipropetrovsk
- Zaporizhzhya
- Donetsk
- Sumy
- Odesa regions.
Oleshchuk clarified that mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, electronic warfare units, anti-aircraft missile units and fighter aircraft of the Air Force were involved in this.
“As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, the Ukrainian Defence Forces managed to shoot down all 24 suicide bombers,” the general said.
