Ukraine is negotiating with Turkey regarding the placement of floating power plants in the key ports of Odesa and the Danube region in order to partially cover the electricity shortage.

The head of the Odesa regional administration, Oleh Kiper, spoke about this at a press conference on Friday.

“They have powerful ships that produce, for example, 250 MW. We are studying the issue of attracting three of these: to Izmail, to Odesa and [the port] Pivdennyi. They provide 250 MW each - we, in fact, will close the city and several districts," Kiper said.

According to him, the negotiations are still limited to security issues.
