Officials of Odesa utility company accused of embezzling UAH 2.5 million
The case of misappropriation of 2.5 million UAH. budget funds in the Odesa region came to court.
The territorial department of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Odesa region sent to court a case of theft of 2.5 million UAH of budget funds by utility company employees and suppliers.

In the Odesa region, a case was brought to court in which officials and suppliers are accused of embezzling UAH 2.5 million from the budget due to inflated prices for heat pumps.
It was established that an official of a municipal enterprise in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district of Odesa region, an entrepreneur and the organiser had developed a plan to seize budget funds before the tender was announced.
They subsequently carried out a procurement, the winner of which was a company controlled by the suspects, which sold heat pumps to the utility company at an inflated price.
These actions led to the embezzlement and misappropriation of UAH 2.5 million. public funds. During the searches, almost 175 thousand UAH, computer equipment and mobile phones that were used in illegal activities were confiscated from the persons involved in the case.
The property of the suspects was seized to ensure further compensation for the damage caused to the state. Two more defendants were informed of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation, embezzlement of property or taking possession of it through abuse of official position).
Currently, the employee of the utility company has been given a preventive measure in the form of detention, and two accomplices have been given bail.
Those involved face imprisonment for a term of seven to twelve years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and with confiscation of property.
