The Ukraine Recovery Conference starts in Berlin with the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
More than 2 thousand politicians, diplomats, business representatives, municipalities, and civil society from different countries take part in the two-day event.
It was on the involvement of civil society and the role of connections between cities, communities, and municipalities that the host country, Germany, emphasized. So, the mayors of a number of cities in Ukraine, including from the east of our state, arrived at the conference. The range of issues that will be discussed on numerous panels is wide and covers such areas as energy, human capital, mental health, cultural heritage and many others.
Several documents are planned to be signed on the sidelines of the conference.
The President of Ukraine, in addition to participating in the conference itself, will hold separate meetings with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Bundestag Bärbel Bas and Head of the Government of Germany Olaf Scholz. The Ukrainian leader will also speak in the German parliament and visit the Bundeswehr base where Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers are trained.
This is the third such conference during Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. The previous ones took place in Lugano (Switzerland) and London. The 2025 URC is scheduled to take place in Italy.
