President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida signed a bilateral agreement on security cooperation. .

The head of the Ukrainian state announced this on the social network X.

According to him, this is “a unique document from one of the most economically and technologically developed countries in the world.”

The agreement is for ten years. According to the document, Japan will provide $4.5 billion in aid to Ukraine this year.

“Assistance in the field of security and defense, cooperation in the humanitarian, technical and financial spheres, joint work to implement the points of the Peace Formula, sanctions against the aggressor and bringing him to justice - this also consolidates the agreement signed today. We appreciate that Japan will work with Ukraine for restoration and renewal,” Zelenskyy said.

He also noted that such a document is breakthrough for Japan.

The Office of the President added that this is the first such agreement signed not with a NATO member country.

“Japan will provide treatment to wounded Ukrainian soldiers, cooperate with Ukraine in the areas of intelligence and protection of classified information, strengthening the protection and restoration of critical infrastructure, strengthening cyber and information security, ensuring free navigation and the security of sea routes,” the OP statement says.

In addition, Tokyo and Kyiv agreed to deepen cooperation in the industrial sector. Thus, the countries will explore the possibilities of developing Ukraine’s industrial base, creating joint ventures and conducting research.
