During his participation in the Group of Seven (G7) summit, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Pope Francis. One of the topics of discussion was the Peace Summit to be held this weekend.
The head of the Ukrainian state reported this on Facebook.
Zelenskyy thanked the pontiff for his prayers for peace in Ukraine, spiritual closeness with Ukrainians and humanitarian assistance.
During the negotiations, the parties raised issues of the consequences of the Russian invasion, Russian air terror and the difficult situation in the energy sector.
“We also talked about the peace formula, the role of the Holy See in establishing a just and sustainable peace for Ukraine, and expectations from the Global Peace Summit,” Zelenskyy noted.
He added that he appreciated the Vatican’s participation in the summit and efforts aimed at bringing peace closer, including the return of deported Ukrainian children from Russia.
