In September 2024, Spain plans to transfer Hawk anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine in order to increase the air defence capacity of our country.
This was reported by the Spanish Ministry of Defence.
On Wednesday, July 24, Spanish Defence Minister Margarita Robles held a working conversation via videoconference with her Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umyerov.
In particular, Umyerov spoke about the situation at the front and the urgent needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It is noted that Robles spoke about future supplies of military assistance to Ukraine and progress in the training of the Ukrainian military - 5,000 soldiers have already been trained.
According to her, Spain plans to provide a fully operational Hawk anti-aircraft battery in Ukraine in September. This will increase the power of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ air defence.
In addition, Robles also noted the importance of humanitarian support for Ukraine. Her country will provide a facilitated transfer from Poland for orphans and relatives of Ukrainian soldiers so that they can spend a few days in Spain.
