The Security Service of Ukraine detained a saboteur who, on instructions from Russian intelligence, committed a series of arson attacks on energy facilities in  Cherkasy region.

The SSU reported this.

The enemy agent turned out to be a 20-year-old local resident who was looking for “easy money” on the Internet.

According to the investigation, on instructions from Russian intelligence, the defendant tried to destroy eight electrical substations and one relay cabinet in the Uman region. The plan was to cut off power to most of society and block railway traffic in the region.

To carry out the enemy’s task, the attacker first established the locations of the relevant energy facilities and prepared the tools to commit the crime.

It is documented how he subsequently broke into transformer substations in order to pour gasoline on technological equipment and set it on fire.

The Russian intelligence service promised that if the targets were destroyed, the man would receive money. They were supposed to go to his bank card.
