The Russian occupation forces advancing in the Pokrovsk direction are trying to look for weak points in the Ukrainian defense to concentrate their own forces. The defenders repulse long enemy assaults, after which enemy activity subsides for a while.

However, the overall situation in this forward sector is tense. Serhiy Tsekhotskyi, an officer of the 59th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Yakov Handzyuk, spoke about this in a commentary to Espresso .

“Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions are perhaps the hottest, but we should not reduce attention to other directions. Because the enemy is insidious and always looks for weak points to concentrate his forces,” the military man noted.

He says that last weekend, after lengthy infantry assaults towards Pokrovsk, the Russians resorted to powerful attacks using vehicles.

“Over these two days, about 39 units of equipment were destroyed and damaged and 206 occupiers were liquidated. We see the result - the enemy has not made any major advances,” Tsehotskyi noted.

According to the officer, over the past 24 hours there have been no assaults by the invaders in the Pokrovsk direction. During this pause, our defenders continued to operate successfully: in particular, the masters of unmanned systems flights managed to destroy Russian T-72 and BMP-2 tanks.

“During these 24 hours, the Defence Forces destroyed many Russian control points and equipment in the rear. The skill of our fighters and morale are always at a high level, especially when we have the necessary means to fight the enemy,” Tsehotskyi emphasized.

According to the DeepState map, about 20 kilometers remain from the front line to Pokrovsk; since the beginning of the Russian offensive in this direction, rocket attacks and shelling by CABs on the regional center and populated areas nearby have become more frequent. The other day, the media, citing the words of the head of the city military administration, Serhiy Dobryak,reported that about 60 thousand people remain in the city and 500-540 leave every month (as of January 1, 2022, 61,127 people lived there ). An evacuation train from Pokrovsk departs once every eight days.
