In Zakarpattia, a group of organisers of illegal border smuggling was exposed. They helped men liable for military service cross the Tysa River in exchange for money.
The press service of the State Border Service of Ukraine reported this on August 1. A photo of the arrest of four defendants was also published.
“A criminal group of organizers of illegal crossings across the border has been exposed in Zakarpattia,” the State Border Guard Service said in a statement.
The department said that the group consisted of four local residents, among whom was a teenager.
For a monetary reward, the defendants organized transportation across the Tysa for potential border violators.
All members of the group were detained, and their “earnings” for the last deal - $2 thousand - were confiscated.
The organizer of the group faces criminal liability, and if proven guilty in court, faces imprisonment for a term of seven to nine years.
