The DIU and the MFA evacuated Ukrainian citizens from Lebanon

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly organised the evacuation of Ukrainians from Lebanon. A total of thirty of our citizens were evacuated.

The corresponding photos and videos were published in intelligence on Saturday, August 3. Our compatriots, including 21 women and nine children, have already arrived in Rzeszow (Poland) and are safe.

"The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs evacuated Ukrainian citizens from Lebanon. On Saturday, 3 August 2024, on the instructions of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly organised the evacuation of thirty of our citizens from Lebanon, where the security situation has deteriorated sharply," the intelligence service said.

They said that our compatriots, including 21 women and nine children, have already arrived in Rzeszow (Poland) and are safe. They were met by Ukrainian consuls and representatives of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

The evacuees are provided with all the necessary assistance and are escorted to our state. The intelligence service emphasized that Ukraine was one of the first in the world to successfully evacuate its citizens from Lebanon. As in previous cases of crises and armed conflicts abroad, Ukraine is demonstrating leadership in caring for its people.

“Ukrainian diplomats warned our citizens in Lebanon about the danger and recommended in advance to leave the territory of the republic. Employees of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine continue to work to provide assistance to Ukrainian citizens in Lebanon. Work continues on the possibility of further evacuation of other Ukrainians who express a desire to leave Lebanese territory.” , the message says.

The intelligence also recalled important information for those wishing to evacuate:

– Citizens wishing to leave Lebanon in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must contact the Embassy of Ukraine in the Lebanese Republic by phone (+961) 5921668 or by email: [email protected].

– Citizens of Ukraine who find themselves in an emergency situation or face a threat to life and health should also apply for these contacts. You can also contact the 24-hour hotline of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine: +38-044-238-16-57 or email [email protected].

– Citizens who have made a personal decision to extend their stay in Lebanon are advised to avoid crowded places, not to participate in demonstrations, and to strictly observe security measures and rules for the stay of foreigners in the country.

– Comply with the legal requirements of law enforcement agencies, monitor reports from local authorities about the development of the situation, do not leave your place of residence unless absolutely necessary, always carry identification documents with you, and also consider reducing the length of your stay in the country.

– During their stay in Lebanon, Ukrainian citizens are also advised to refrain from traveling to territories bordering the Syrian border; bordering the Israeli border south of the Litani River; to the refugee camps of Nahr Al-Bared and Beddawi (near Tripoli), Ain Al-Hilweh and Mieh Mieh (near Saida); Bek Valley; southern suburb of Beirut (Dahie district).

This applies to citizens of Ukraine anywhere in the world, under any circumstances and at any distance from their homeland. Ukraine never leaves its people in trouble,” the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence summarized.
