Verkhovna Rada Committee recommended adopting a law on stripping traitors of state awards

Verkhovna Rada’s Law Enforcement Committee recommended adopting bills on stripping state awards for propaganda of the aggressor and improving the procedure for handling weapons.

The Law Enforcement Committee of the Verkhovna Rada recommended that parliament adopt bills on the deprivation of state awards for popularizing or promoting an aggressor state and improving the procedure for obtaining, declaring and handling firearms.

The parliament’s press service reported this.

"Details On August 15, 2024, at an extraordinary meeting, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement, in pursuance of the instructions of the President of Ukraine, recommended that the parliament immediately consider and adopt laws on the deprivation of state awards for popularizing or promoting the aggressor state and improving the procedure for obtaining, declaring and handling firearms," the report says.

The bill was developed with the aim of improving the legislation of Ukraine on the deprivation of state awards of persons convicted of serious or especially serious crimes or criminal offenses against the foundations of national security of Ukraine, against peace, the security of humanity and international law and order, as well as persons popularizing or promoting the aggressor state and its authorities, their representatives, or committing other actions aimed at creating a positive image of the aggressor state, justifying and recognizing the lawful occupation of the territory of Ukraine.
