Shmyhal: Ukraine has reached pre-war export levels

Ukrainian exporters increased the physical sales volumes of their goods by 35% in the first half of 2024. This became possible thanks to the opening of the sea corridor in the Black Sea.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this during a government meeting.

"We have reached pre-war export levels," he said.

As the Prime Minister noted, from the first day of its invasion, Russia did everything to ensure that Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea were blockaded.

"In this way, the enemy put pressure on the Ukrainian economy and simultaneously put pressure on our allies, creating threats to global food security," he added.

Shmyhal noted that one of the biggest victories for Ukraine last year was the opening of the Ukrainian sea corridor.

According to him, exactly one year has passed, and today we can evaluate very important results for our country.

"More than 2,300 ships have called at the Black Sea ports of Ukraine this year. The cargo turnover amounted to more than 64 million tons. Almost 44 million tons of grain were exported from Ukraine. All this had a positive impact on various sectors of our economy and on the economy as a whole," the Prime Minister said.
