
On Wednesday, August 28, Russian occupation forces shelled the Mykolaiv rural community in Sumy region. Civilian infrastructure came under enemy fire.
Three civilians were injured. This was reported on the Facebook page of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office. Law enforcement officers are conducting a pre-trial investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the report, according to preliminary data, the attack on the peaceful settlement was carried out using missile weapons.
"According to the investigation, on August 28, 2024, from 16:40 to 17:40, using methods of warfare prohibited by international law, the enemy launched, according to preliminary data, missile strikes on the civilian infrastructure of the Mykolaiv rural community of the Sumy district," the prosecutor’s office reported.
Law enforcement officials noted that as a result of the attack by the occupiers, a married couple, both aged 62, and a 65-year-old man were injured.
At the same time, the Telegram channel of the Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that as a result of the missile strike on the Mykolaiv community, four civilians were injured.
In total, according to the RMA, during the day the Russians carried out 66 attacks on border areas and settlements of the Sumy region. 220 explosions were recorded.
The Khotyn, Yunakiv, Mykolaiv, Velykopysarivska, Bilopilska, Berezivska, Esmanska, Hlukhivska, Seredyno-Budska, Krasnopilska, Novoslobidska, Druzhbivska and Znob-Novhorodska communities were shelled.
