Deputy Ivan Krulko reported that the parliament had hoped for a reduction in tension. Currently, the budget lacks funds for military salaries and weapons.
The budget has run out of funds to pay salaries and "combat" allowances to Ukrainian soldiers. This was stated on the air of the Kyiv24 TV channel by Ivan Krulko, a people’s deputy from the Batkivshchyna party and first deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Budget Issues.
"The real reason is that the 2024 budget did not include funds for paying the military their salaries and for "combat" expenses since September. The reason that seems more likely is that there were hopes for de-escalation before September," the politician noted.
In his opinion, the Rada hoped that due to the decrease in tensions, budget expenditures on the Ukrainian Armed Forces would decrease. With the hope that the army would not need such a level of expenditure, funds were allocated only until September 2024.
"They are currently exhausted. And there is a need to increase the budget by 500 billion hryvnia. Mainly to cover expenses for the Armed Forces, their salaries and "combat", and part of the funds will be spent on purchasing weapons under already signed contracts," Krulko emphasized.
