President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky criticized the peace plan proposed by China and Brazil to end the war, describing it as "destructive" and pre-agreed with the Kremlin. He emphasized that this proposal is merely a "political declaration" and does not reflect the actual circumstances.
This was reported by Metropoles.
Zelenskyy emphasized that he offered Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to discuss this issue together but expressed surprise as to why Brazil chose a "middle ground" position and supports Russia.
"Their proposal is also destructive, it is just a political statement. I told the President of Brazil: ’Let’s sit down and talk.’ You are not our enemies, we are not your enemies. Why have you suddenly decided to side with Russia and take a middle ground position? We are not fools," he noted.
Zelenskyy also condemned the position of the Brazilian government in the context of the war in Eastern Europe, asserting that it is "pro-Russian."
In particular, Zelenskyy expressed disappointment that Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva strives for "political appeasement" rather than taking a more active stance on the conflict.
"I had a good conversation with President Lula, and it seemed to me that he understood me. I was grateful for meeting him, and I was completely open. I hoped that he would realize what is happening rather than just engage in political appeasement," he noted.
Zelenskyy mentioned that he expected more understanding from Lula after their meeting but emphasized that Brazil’s efforts to find a peaceful solution remain ineffective, as the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, whom the Ukrainian leader called a "killer," shows no intention of stopping the war.
