President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan. The latter arrived in Ukraine to participate in the conference "United for Justice" and the next Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen.

During the meeting, issues of fighting the deportation of Ukrainian children and investigating these crimes were discussed. The President’s Office also noted the importance of preventing the ignoring of court decisions regarding warrants for the arrest of Russian war criminals.

At the same time, it concerns Mongolia – a country that has ratified the Rome Statute but did not arrest the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, although it had all the rights and grounds to do so.

"As you know, we have ratified the Rome Statute, and I have already signed this law. We have become the 125th country in the world to do so. We are fighting for democracy, for freedom, for our values, defending them, and we want to be closer to all our allies," noted Zelenskyy during the meeting with the ICC head.

"The law should be relevant for people right now; it should be tangible for the protection of Ukrainians, and it must be used against those who commit crimes," emphasized Karim Khan.

The head of the International Criminal Court also shared how he likes our country.

"I always enjoy coming to Ukraine, even in these challenging times. It is a wonderful country. Every month, the more we explore Ukraine, the deeper I appreciate the Ukrainian people. Yes, there is suffering, but simultaneously there is hope, there is tragedy and bravery that coexist in the same space," he said.
