Norway will soon deliver six F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine

Norway will provide Ukraine with F-16 fighters. Six aircraft will arrive shortly.

This was reported with reference to the Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov on Facebook.

Umerov noted that during the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council, he held talks with the Minister of Defence of Norway Bjørn Arild Gram. The Ukrainian official expressed gratitude to the Norwegian government and people for their unprecedented support of Ukraine.

During the talks, the ministers discussed the situation on the front line and Ukraine’s needs, particularly in the field of long-range weapons. Specific agreements were also reached regarding strengthening Ukraine’s air defense.

"Special attention - to the aviation component, particularly enhancing our capabilities with F-16 fighters. Norway will continue its support and will provide Ukraine with six aircraft shortly," Umerov said.

In addition, according to the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence, he discussed with his Norwegian colleague the development of the Ukrainian defense industry. In particular, Umerov invited Norway to join in direct financing of Ukrainian defence enterprises, as Denmark has already done.

The Ukrainian Minister of Defence also proposed to Norway to train and equip one of the Ukrainian Armed Forces brigades. Currently, France is implementing such an initiative.
