A senior official of the U.S. President’s administration reported that there is a lack of unity among the members of the North Atlantic Alliance on the issue of inviting Ukraine to NATO.

This statement was made during a briefing on Thursday, October 17.

"Discussions are ongoing among NATO allies regarding the invitation. At this moment, there is no consensus on inviting Ukraine," he stated.

At the same time, the White House representative reminded that at the NATO summit, which took place just a few months ago in mid-July, all 32 allies confirmed that Ukraine is moving on an irreversible path towards membership.

"Therefore, the task is to develop a strategy that supports this path and helps achieve consensus on further actions," he emphasized.
