At the end of August, Russian invaders carried out an airstrike on Kharkiv using the "Hrim-E1" bomb. This same munition was used by the enemy during the city’s shelling on the night of October 29.

As noted by Defense Express, the first cases of using this type of weapon on Ukrainian territory were recorded back in 2023. In particular, in March, photographs of shell remnants found literally "in the field" appeared. These images became some of the first evidence of Russia using this hybrid of a missile and a glide bomb.

In 2024, the invaders continued to use "Hrim-E1," although this occurred infrequently and mainly took the form of terrorist attacks on civilian targets. Notably, such attacks were carried out on a school and a residential five-story building in Myrnohrad and Kherson in February-March of the current year.

On August 31, during another shelling of Kharkiv, the enemy, as mentioned above, used the "Hrim-E1," which is a hybrid of a missile and a guided aerial bomb (GAB).

The repeated use of the munition by terrorists took place today, on the night of October 29. Around 9 PM, the city was attacked by GABs, after which the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration (RMA), Oleh Synyehubov, announced the risk of repeated strikes. Later, it became known that the center of Kharkiv was under attack. In particular, there was information about the first wounded, as well as damage to a medical facility, an administrative building, and the Derzhprom building, which is under UNESCO protection.

A few hours later, terrorists attacked Kharkiv for the second time that night. At that time, the enemy targeted the Osnovyanskyi district.

According to the State Emergency Service, as of seven in the morning, it was known about:

Earlier, overnight, the spokesperson of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, Dmytro Chubenko, reported about 12 wounded as a result of the city shelling. According to him, around 10 PM, terrorists launched four strikes - two in the region and two in the city’s vicinity.

In particular, according to preliminary data, the enemy attacked with FABs equipped with UMPK and the hybrid aviation bomb-missile "Hrim-E1."

What is known about "Hrim-E1"

The terrorist country Russia first presented "Hrim" in 2015 at the MAKS air show, showcasing two modifications of this weapon:

The munition itself is positioned as a hybrid of a missile and a glide aviation bomb based on the X-38. Specifically, its maximum range reaches up to 120 kilometers.

Defense Express adds that overall the project seems quite strange, as the X-38 itself possesses serious combat characteristics:

The X-38 missile was initially created as a modern and dangerous replacement for the outdated Soviet X-25 and X-29.

"Hrim-E1" was presented with a warhead weighing 315 kilograms and a jet engine, whereas "Hrim-E2" has an additional warhead weighing 165 kg, but without a jet engine. The maximum range of use for the latter is up to 65 kilometers, and for "Hrim-E1" - 120 kilometers.
