A veteran shared his ideas on reforming the TRC
Veteran Oleh Symoroz emphasized that recruitment centers should be reformed, as they provide a low-quality reserve. This concerns not only motivation but also the specialties to which those mobilized are sent.
Territorial recruitment centers need to be reformed, as mobilization in Ukraine is happening unfairly. This was stated by veteran Oleh Symoroz.
According to him, mobilization is also necessary because the military currently needs support. The armed forces must be fully staffed so that soldiers have a chance to return from battle alive.
"We currently have problems with staffing. It’s important — that this staffing be of high quality," the veteran noted.
According to Symoroz, mobilization in Ukraine is carried out unfairly.
"The whole country knows that there are groups of people who do not serve, who are well off, living prosperously because their parents—elites and officials—shield them. And there are others who do serve. The army and service through mobilization are gradually turning into ’a fool who didn’t have enough money.’ Despite the fact that we have held the country together for these 10 years," the veteran explained.
He stated that recruitment centers need to be reformed since they provide a low-quality reserve. This is not only about motivation but also about the specialties to which those mobilized are sent.
"It works out ’wonderfully’ for us that a healthy young cook-administrator sits, while in the Air Assault Forces they send a 55-year-old grandfather with many illnesses. Reform is necessary," said Symoroz.
He also noted that digitalization and the creation of applications are not a cure for corruption.
"Most countries are so undigitalized that compared to us — it’s day and night. Yet, for some reason, they have less corruption. The main problem is that we focus on digitalization rather than fighting corruption," Symoroz pointed out.
According to the veteran, recruitment campaigns should be created, and the transition to a recruitment system, as happens in NATO countries, should occur. A person should be directly recruited into the unit where they will serve, conducting interviews.
"This can be implemented in the system of military and administrative service provision centers. It should all be public, there is no secrecy. People should be allowed to record everything and thus restore trust in society by involving combat brigades in this process. Currently, the way it happens, with ’Soviet’ colonels from the military commissariat system, it’s impossible to build a mobilization process or change anything," said Symoroz.
The veteran noted that there are people in the recruitment centers who should not be there. Instead of them, those military personnel who have real combat experience and have proven their loyalty to the oath should be appointed.
"And a colonel who has spent his whole life in the military commissariat should no longer be there," he said.
