Ukrainian investigators have found assets belonging to former officials of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, who are accused of organizing a corruption scheme that caused the state losses of almost 1.5 billion hryvnias. These include residential and non-residential properties, as well as vehicles.

This was reported by the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA). Investigators claim that former public officials deliberately hindered the implementation of a Cabinet of Ministers resolution regarding the operation of gas distribution systems.

This led to the evasion of payments for the use of state property, resulting in the state budget not receiving 1.488 billion hryvnias. This took place from May 2017 to December 2020.

"Our specialists have already identified the first assets of the case figures: 3 residential and non-residential properties, 4 land plots, and 2 vehicles. We are also awaiting responses from banking institutions regarding the presence of accounts and funds. ARMA will do everything possible to ensure that all unlawfully obtained assets by officials are found," said Pavlo Velykorechanin, Deputy Head of ARMA.

Information about the assets has been transferred to the pre-trial investigation authority. The matter of seizing them for further transfer under ARMA’s management is being considered.
