The testing of the latest American UAV system, the primary component of which is the Hitchhiker interceptor drone, has been successfully completed in Ukraine. It is considered a true "game-changer" that will alter methods of defense against drone attacks.

This was reported by Newsweek. It is noted that the system was developed by two leading American tech companies – IronNet and Astrion.

This revolutionary drone-countering technology shows impressive potential for overcoming drone threats in real combat conditions and enhancing battlefield intelligence.

The defensive network is created by integrating IronNet’s cybersecurity system, which provides real-time cyber threat detection, with Astrion’s drone countermeasures technology.

The main component of the system is the high-speed Hitchhiker interceptor drone with an electric engine, designed to destroy enemy drones, including Shaheds. This advanced technology offers a more cost-effective solution compared to the use of expensive defense systems like Patriot missile complexes.

According to Admiral Mike Hewitt, director of IronNet, Hitchhiker is a true "game-changer."

He emphasized that the partnership between Astrion and IronNet can make a significant contribution to enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities and changing the approach to countering drones.

According to him, Astrion can provide nationwide protection against UAVs. The system allows for the detection, classification, tracking, and destruction of enemy drones with autonomous interceptors launched from various points.

IronNet, in turn, will provide a platform for cyber-resilient collective defense, strengthening the Astrion network.

This new military technology can change the dynamics of modern warfare, the admiral emphasized.

As noted by the publication, it has already been presented to Ukrainian military personnel working on the front lines.
