Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation, together with the State Border Guard Service, discovered a law enforcement officer in Zakarpattia who, for $10,000, assisted draft evaders in illegally crossing the state border.
At the end of October, a friend approached him who, along with a companion, wanted to leave Ukraine. The law enforcement officer offered his services and promised to drive them to the border with Hungary, as well as provide instructions on how to cross the border unnoticed.
The men handed over part of the money – $5,000 – and set off for Mukachevo, where they met with the law enforcement officer. He took them to the border zone, where he gave instructions for further actions. However, the border guards still detained both draft evaders.
During a search, the law enforcement officer was found with the received money, a phone, and a car. He was informed of the suspicion of assisting in the illegal transportation of persons across the state border, and a preventive measure was chosen - detention.
