To Ukraine, the bodies of another 502 fallen Ukrainian defenders have been returned
Ukraine has returned the bodies of 502 service members who died in the war. These are defenders who took part in combat operations in various directions.
This was reported with reference to the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War in Telegram.
Ukraine managed to return the fallen defenders to the controlled territory, among whom are:
- 397 service members from the Donetsk direction;
- 24 from the Luhansk direction;
- 64 from the Zaporizhzhya direction;
- 17 returned from morgues on the territory of the Russian Federation.
The return of the service members’ bodies was handled by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Central Directorate of Civil-Military Cooperation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, SSU, Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons Under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service, and other structures of the Security and Defence Sector of Ukraine.
The bodies of the fallen warriors will first be handed over to law enforcement agencies and forensic experts. This procedure is necessary to establish the identity of the deceased.
