As reported by the Ministry of Defence of Denmark, the acceleration of deliveries also applies to ammunition for artillery systems, which are expected next year.
Denmark continues to actively support Ukraine in its confrontation with Russian aggression, allocating significant resources to strengthen the defense capabilities of Ukrainian troops. According to a statement by the Ministry of Defence of Denmark, additional funds will be allocated for the purchase of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the delivery of already contracted systems will be significantly accelerated.
One of the key initiatives is the acceleration of the transfer of French-made CAESAR self-propelled artillery systems (SPAs). Initially, deliveriess were planned for 2026, but now the 155-mm SPAs will be delivered to the Ukrainian army in 2025.
"The defense industry has shown that it is capable of providing what Ukraine needs. Therefore, the government will increase the industrial pool so that the latest contracts can be signed this year," stated Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
Currently, the amount of funds allocated to the industrial pool is approximately 2.6 billion Danish kroner (more than 360 million dollars), and this amount will soon be increased. Delivery of ammunition for this artillery will also be expedited — Ukrainian defense forces will be able to receive them in 2025.
"Artillery systems are in high demand in Ukraine, and I am glad that Denmark can contribute to Ukraine receiving more artillery shells as early as next year," added the head of the defense department.
Commenting on the news, Defense Express observers noted that the acceleration of deliveries is apparently related to France cutting the production cycle of the CAESAR SPAs from 30 to 15 months.
"If in the spring of this year France was producing six CAESAR SPAs per month, in November it was reported at the level of the country’s Ministry of Defence about increasing this production to 12 machines," the analysts concluded.
