A 28-year-old Ukrainian from Ukraine, who fell into a deep ravine in the Maramureș Mountains in Romania, was rescued by rescuers and border guards after nearly five and a half hours of intense work. According to rescuers, the cat the man took with him saved his life.

Romanian rescuers together with border guards managed to retrieve from a 400-meter-deep ravine with a steep slope in the Eastern Carpathians a Ukrainian citizen with a kitten. This was reported by the portal spotmedia.

The rescue operation, complicated by deep snow, blizzard, and cold, lasted 5 and a half hours.

Local authorities reported that the man is 28 years old and from Kharkiv. A kitten was with him, which is believed to have helped him survive.
