We had no choice, - Syrskyi on the Kursk operation

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that he had no choice but to carry out an offensive operation in the Kursk direction. The troops needed to act promptly to prevent Russian attacks on Kharkiv and Sumy.

Our warriors caught the enemy by surprise and struck in a place where it was not expected. Syrskyi told this in an interview with Le Monde.

"I had no choice; I needed to carry out this operation. I had to simultaneously thwart the attack on Kharkiv, reduce pressure on all fronts, and prevent a new front from opening in Sumy. Therefore, I decided to launch an offensive where the enemy had a weak spot, with a minimal number of soldiers to guard the border," he said.

The Ukrainian military attacked where the Russians had a small number of soldiers to guard the border. Although we had few troops on our side, the task was accomplished.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized that after this operation, the Russians reduced the intensity of attacks on almost all sections of the front. According to him, they are currently actively advancing only near Pokrovsk and Kurakhove.
