The State Property Fund of Ukraine successfully sold 100% of the share capital of LLC "Aerok", which previously belonged to Russian businessman Molchanov.
For two factories in the Kyiv region and a construction plot in the city of Stryi, the group of Ukrainian businessman Hennadiy Butkevych paid 1.89 billion UAH. This was twice the starting price of the auction.
The sale of "Aerok" became a vivid example of an effective mechanism for the confiscation of assets linked to Russian oligarchs. A similar approach could be applied to other strategic enterprises with Russian capital.
In particular, such an object is "Karpatnaftokhim" in Kalush, which for a long time remained under the indirect control of the Russian company "Lukoil". According to experts’ estimates, the value of this chemical giant exceeds $200 million (about 8 billion UAH). Despite the obvious potential for a profitable sale, the enterprise has not yet been confiscated, and one-third of the shares were registered to an individual entrepreneur from Drohobych.
The use of auctions for the sale of such assets not only increases revenues to the state budget but also contributes to cleansing the Ukrainian economy from the influence of Russian business structures.
