On Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy received the credentials from the new Serbian ambassador to Kyiv, Andon Sapundzi.

The president announced this on his Telegram channel.

On December 20, Sapundzi handed over copies of his credentials to Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Oleksandr Mishchenko. Sapundzi was appointed as the ambassador to Kyiv in late October.

Before becoming the head of the embassy in Kyiv, Sapundzi worked in the diplomatic service at the Serbian Embassy in Washington, where he served as an adviser-envoy, which is the second highest position in the embassy, for six years.

He also worked in diplomatic missions in Paris and Brussels.

According to Serbian media, Sapundzi is close to the Socialist Party of Serbia and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivica Dačić.

It should be noted that the Serbian Embassy in Ukraine temporarily ceased its operations due to security concerns back in March 2022.
