The visit of Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha to Syria takes place on the instructions of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He is also awaiting a report on the visit.
This was stated by the advisor to the President of Ukraine, Dmytro Lytvyn, in a comment to the media.
According to Lytvyn, the main details of Sybiha’s visit to Damascus will be revealed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, he noted that the visit is taking place on the president’s directive.
"It is the president’s idea to activate contacts now - we sent food to Syria, the first batch. There will be more under the ’Grain from Ukraine’ program," Lytvyn explained.
Lytvyn noted that during the meeting between Sybiha and Syria’s leader Ahmed al-Sharaa, sensitive political issues were likely discussed.
"The president is now awaiting a report on this visit and negotiations from Sybiha," Lytvyn said.
