Law enforcement officers detained arsonists, including a contract serviceman: they worked on orders from the FSB

The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police detained five arsonists who were carrying out tasks assigned by the Russian FSB. They operated in the Kyiv and Volyn regions.

As reported by the SSU, their targets included infrastructure facilities, such as relay cabinets of "Ukrzaliznytsia" and vehicles of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

In the Kyiv region, three individuals were detained, including a 22-year-old contract serviceman who was recruited online by the Russians.

It is known that he involved two acquaintances in his criminal activities.

The investigation revealed that the group set fire to two relay cabinets, which regulated train movements in the region, using flammable mixtures and screwdrivers to break into the energy installations.

Meanwhile, in the Volyn region, during an attempted arson of a Ukrainian Armed Forces service vehicle, two more perpetrators were detained - an 18-year-old vocational school student and his 15-year-old accomplice.

It is indicated that the service vehicle was undergoing maintenance after completing tasks on the front line.

During searches, mobile phones with evidence of communication with FSB handlers, as well as clothing used to commit the crimes, were seized from the detainees.

All detainees have been charged under articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including sabotage, obstruction of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ activities, and intentional destruction of property by arson (Part 2, Article 28, Part 2, Article 113; Part 1, Article 114-1; Part 2, Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The guilty face penalties ranging from 10 years of imprisonment to life imprisonment, with confiscation of property.
