The situation on the front: The Armed Forces of Ukraine struck a Russian command and observation post

The Armed Forces of Ukraine struck a Russian command and observation post on January 3. The largest attacks by the occupiers were launched in the Pokrovsk direction and Kursk region.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"During the past day, aviation, missile forces, and artillery of the Defence Forces hit four areas of concentration of personnel and equipment, a command and observation post, as well as an air defence asset of the Russian invaders," the statement said.

The "hottest" directions

During the last day, 148 combat engagements were recorded. The most attacks by the occupiers were in the Pokrovsk direction and Kursk region.

"In the Pokrovsk direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine stopped 40 assault and offensive actions by the aggressor in the areas of Vodyane Druhe, Baranivka, Myrolyubivka, Promin, Novoolenivka, Novovasylivka, Ukrainian, Lysivka, Zelene, Novyi Trud, Pishchane, Zvirove, Solone, Kotlyne, and Pokrovsk," the General Staff reported.

Moreover, in the operational zone in the Kursk region, units of the Defence Forces of Ukraine repelled 41 attacks by Russian invaders over the past day. Additionally, the enemy launched three missile and ten air strikes, using three missiles and 15 guided bombs, and conducted 357 artillery shellings of our troops’ positions and populated areas.

Situation in other directions

In the Kharkiv direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled two enemy attacks in the area of Vovchansk.

In the Kupyansk direction, there were seven attacks by the occupiers over the past day. The Defence Forces repelled enemy assault actions near Kucherivka, Sinkivka, and Zahryzovo.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked 11 times. They attempted to advance near Nadiya, Makiivka, Hryhorivka, Tverdokhlibove, Yampolivka, and towards Cherneshchyna, Zelena Dolyna.

In the Siversk direction, the enemy twice attacked the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the settlement of Bilohorivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, there were 10 combat engagements in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, towards Predtechyne, and Stupochky.

In the Toretsk direction, the enemy carried out seven attacks near the settlements of Diliivka, Toretsk, and Shcherbynivka.

In the Kurakhove direction, the Defence Forces repelled 11 enemy attacks near Petropavlivka, Sribne, Kurakhove, and Shevchenko.

In the Vremivka direction, the enemy carried out 11 offensive actions on the positions of Ukrainian units in areas near Yantarne and towards Konstantynopol and Novosilka.

In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian forces repelled one enemy attack near the settlement of Novoandriivka. The enemy’s aviation was active in this direction.

In the Prydniprovsk direction, Russian invaders unsuccessfully attempted to assault Ukrainian positions twice.

In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy did not make assault actions over the past day.

In the Volyn and Polissya directions, no signs of the enemy’s offensive group formations were detected.

On the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the enemy actively uses artillery and aviation from the territory of Russia on areas of Ukrainian settlements.
