In the RMA, they showed what the first underground school in the Sumy region looks like

In the Sumy region, on the territory of one of the communities of the Okhtyrka district, the first underground school has opened. Its radiation shelter can be used both by students for learning and by local residents for protection if needed.

This was reported on the official page of the Sumy Regional Military Administration on Facebook. The head of the RMA, Volodymyr Artyukh, noted that the shelter is designed for 295 people.

"This is the first dual-purpose radiation shelter that we have built in an educational institution in our region. Today, we are doing everything possible to enable our children to transition from the remote format to a blended or in-person learning format. Creating a safe educational environment that will allow students in the Sumy region to receive quality, comprehensive education is a priority area of work that we will continue to focus on in 2025. We are also expanding our capacities; two more underground schools of this type are being built in the regional center, so that students can continue learning even during alarms," – said Artyukh.

Children will be able to return to learning from January 20.

In addition, construction of another underground school has been completed in the Shostka district. In one more educational institution, work has been completed by 80%. Therefore, it is planned that from September 1, children will also be able to learn in safe conditions.
