Ukraine received the first RCH 155 wheeled howitzer from Germany
The German government has delivered the first RCH 155 self-propelled artillery system to Ukraine.
This was announced by Defence Minister Boris Pistorius during the handover ceremony at the factory in the city of Kassel, reports Stuttgarter Zeitung.
«This is a signal that Ukraine can rely on us. And Germany is ready to take on responsibility in Europe», – he said.
The ceremony was attended by the Ukrainian ambassador to Germany, Oleksiy Makeyev, who symbolically accepted the first RCH 155. He thanked Germany for its support and noted that Ukraine needs «not intermediaries, but allies».
The company KNDS, the developer of the RCH 155, describes the system as «the most advanced wheeled howitzer in the world», which for the first time allows firing while on the move. It is also known that the howitzer’s turret can be operated remotely.
