The President of Ukraine noted that such losses on the Russian side are not accidental, and the use of long-range weapons contributed to this.

The Russian Armed Forces have lost at least 30-35 thousand servicemen in the Kursk region since the start of operations by the Ukrainian Defence Forces. This was reported by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an interview with Polish media after his visit to Warsaw.

According to the President, the losses of Russian troops killed and wounded in the Kursk direction can be confirmed by all world intelligence agencies.

"In the Kursk direction alone, all the intelligence services of the world can declare: Russia has lost 30-35 thousand," Volodymyr Zelenskyy told journalists.

He also added that such losses of Russian troops in this direction are not accidental and have been achieved thanks to long-range weapons.

Meanwhile, the President’s previous statements differ somewhat from the current ones. On January 6, Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that following a meeting of the headquarters, he stated that Russian troops had lost over 38 thousand soldiers in 5 months of fighting in the Kursk region.

"During the Kursk operation, the enemy has already lost over 38 thousand of its soldiers — only in this direction, of which about 15 thousand — irretrievably," the President of Ukraine noted on January 6.

The situation in the Kursk direction remains tense. Russia managed to force the Ukrainian Defence Forces out of several settlements in the Kursk region. On January 15, OSINT analysts reported that the first stage of the Russian counteroffensive in the region was the most successful, and the overall losses of the Russian Armed Forces were insignificant.
