In the Khmelnytskyi region, 2 children died in a fire

The fire broke out on the morning of January 22 in the village of Syvorohy, Kamianets-Podilskyi district.

This was reported by Channel 24 with reference to The State Emergency Service and Suspilne.

Rescuers who arrived that morning at the residential building engulfed in flames found a girl born in 2022 inside with no signs of life.

The five-month-old baby was saved by a neighbor who immediately rushed to help during the fire. The child was taken to the intensive care unit, where she stayed for four days, but unfortunately, died on Sunday, January 26.

The boy’s condition was assessed by doctors as very serious, as he had up to 40% burns on his entire body.

During the fire, the child received injuries incompatible with life. The boy had extensive and deep burns. He was maintained on artificial lung ventilation, and his blood pressure was stabilized using special apparatuses. Doctors stabilized his condition, but complications from burn disease developed, – said Oksana Khutortsova, acting head of the burn department of the regional hospital.

She added that such burns are extremely severe for a 5-month-old child.
