Drones attacked the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation: a fire broke out at the oil refinery

On the night of January 31, unidentified drones once again attacked several regions of Russia. In particular, the attack caused a fire at an oil depot in the Volgograd region.

This was reported by Russian Telegram channels.

According to the Russians, sounds of explosions, drone flights, and gunfire were heard at around 3 a.m. local time. They were heard in the area of the local refinery in the Krasnoarmeysky district. Some other media outlets and public sources report that the attack targeted a Lukoil refinery located directly in Volgograd. However, it should be noted that this information is still preliminary.

Official information about the attack appeared only closer to the morning. The regional governor, Andrei Bocharov, confirmed that there was a fire at the refinery, but claimed that it was supposedly caused by the "falling debris" of a UAV. Furthermore, he did not specify in which city the attack occurred.

"An attack by eight UAVs was repelled in the Volgograd region’s territory. As a result of the falling debris of one of the UAVs at an oil refinery area, a fire broke out, which was promptly extinguished," the governor stated.

Bocharov also claims that allegedly one worker was injured in the attack and was hospitalized.
