A Chinese vessel carrying diesel fuel and fuel oil has been wrecked near Sakhalin

The Chinese vessel with diesel fuel and fuel oil "Ang Yang-2" was involved in an accident near Sakhalin and ran aground near the Russian port of Nevelsk.

This was reported by the governor of the Sakhalin region, Valeriy Limarenko, on social media.

According to local media, the cargo ship, which was carrying 56 tons of diesel fuel, 706 tons of fuel oil, and 1000 tons of coal, suffered a breach in the Nevelsk area. The vessel has 20 crew members on board.

It is noted that it is currently unclear how serious the breach is, as the Chinese crew cannot clearly explain the extent of the problem, and the translator "isn’t working well."

Limarenko reported that rescuers are currently unable to approach the ship due to a severe storm. Therefore, the decision on whether to unload or refloat the ship will be made when the weather improves.

Preliminary reports indicate that the crew is not at risk; there is a supply of water and food, and no medical assistance is needed.

As usual, Russia assures that there is no fuel spill at the moment.
