Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he would not like the freezing of the front line. The president has already seen a similar scenario – and it led to constant deaths.
This became known from an interview of Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the British broadcaster ITV News.
According to Zelenskyy, if the conflict is frozen, several Ukrainian cities will suffer as they will be divided by this contact line. Additionally, some regions will be in danger even after the war.
I know what a contact line is. I remember it: when I became president in 2019, I visited and saw this contact line in the east of our country. I was in these villages – there was no life there,
– he noted.
The president explained that he tried to build bridges in such settlements – so that ambulances could drive, or children could get to school. However, these bridge crossings were constantly destroyed.
"But people did not leave – they lived in their homes, and next to them was the artillery of those forces and areas controlled by the separatists and Russians, and someone was constantly dying," – said the president.
Zelenskyy notes that the contact line where it is located today is very lifeless. According to him, even when the hot phase of the war ends, it will be very, very difficult to live there. "I did not see changes after the freezing of the conflict for five years. What I saw there before me even remained the same," – the guarantor concludes.
Zelenskyy emphasizes that freezing the conflict will lead to Putin returning again with his aggression. And it will be an absolute defeat for everyone.
